Well, we were a little early for riotous fall colors in the mountains. We will simply have to go back. The Young Prince will be beside himself that we might hike twice in a month (and probably not in a good way, but he'll get over it).
We did, however, hear a decent cover band and enjoy the fall festival at Massanutten, and we also went to a rather crunchy pottery shop where I finally settled on two Perfect Hot Beverage Mugs (one for work, one for home) after a couple months of scouting around. I had a lot of rules -- handle had to fit all my fat fingers, bowl had to be A Certain Size, it had to be pretty, etc., etc.
I have, of course, been too distracted since arriving home to take pictures of them, or to edit and post the mountain photos I did take. They'll show up on flickr sooner or later.
Yesterday was Columbus Day. I got to go to work. The lads stayed home and did their own brand of work -- reading, writing, etc. I imagine the rest of the week will be more of the same, although we really do need to get out and do some yard work before the neighbors start to complain (or start to complain loudly enough that I actually hear them).
There are many other things in flux besides the weather, but I'm going to wait til the dust has settled to write about them. It would be just like me to start a story here and then disappear for three months. Let's not set up that jinx.
