Look at that, it's only been a week and I'm posting again. Not that I have much to say.
I am not sure how other bloggers do it, perhaps they live more exciting lives, or perhaps they assume everyone is just naturally interested in their boring lives, or maybe they like sharing things that I consider sharing and then go, "God, I barely care, why would they?" My life is fairly predictable, routine, and Not Exciting. I am, I suppose, doglike in nature that for me, this is contentment par excellence.
In the past week, for example, we went to see Psycho in the theater (as mentioned last week). For the remainder of the week, I went to work, came home, made dinner, worked some more because I was on a project with a ridiculous deadline, and went to bed. On the weekend, I worked, cleaned, took the kid to his music lessons, came home, read, ate, and slept.
This is riveting stuff, yo.
(Psycho was surprisingly disappointing. Having seen it on TV so many times, the creepy claustrophobia you get in your own living room is woefully diminished in a big dark theater. And some of the long pans that Hitchcock used were not as impressive as one might hope. Also, the theater we were at somehow started it with no sound -- then started from the beginning of the movie with sound -- then rewound and started from the beginning with the TCM intro with sound, so that was kind of funny. I was pleased that the kid pointed out where Hitchcock's hidden cameo was, and I was delighted that the theater had major recliner seats. I am tempted to go back to that theater for any and all movies.)
So far this week, it has been much the same, except instead of going home and working, I am going home and reading books (definitely a step in the right direction). I'll blog about the books over at the writing blog. I've been keeping up with the news a little better than usual, and I've been keeping my opinions to myself on all that in my private journals. (I do find it interesting that I feel the need to keep my opinions secret. So many others don't.)
And finally, the fever that is called summer has broken, and the weather is quite pleasant. We have had the windows open, which makes me very happy. Even better, it has been damp and rainy, which exonerates me from actually going outside, and I can enjoy the cozy and snug but freshly aired confines of my bedroom more or less guilt-free.
Happy autumn!
