Thanksgiving holiday was a success, as far as I'm concerned. Thursday was lovely, with only the gravy posing a casualty -- and the forgotten cranberry sauce -- and our guests were so kind and gracious as to completely look the other way on both counts. (Confidential to A&K: Please, do come back ANY time, we all love-love-love having you -- to such an extent that the YP and the cats immediately ditched us old folks for the upstairs upon your departure. )
Friday was low-key; NYAB wasn't feeling well, but NeighborGirl was home and we do not blow off Movie Night for nothing, no way, no how, when she's around. So we left NYAB napping and went to see Tangled. It was ... eh. About what you'd expect. Enchanted meets Aladdin and makes Rapunzel, more or less, but without Amy Adams or Robin Williams. But hey, popcorn for dinner!
The rest of the weekend was taken up with assorted odds and ends. Laundry. Flu shots. Etc. I decorated probably 2/3 of the house for Christmas. The high point of this was the promise of acquiring a new-to-me fake tree from a co-worker, which meant I had a spare. So I put up the extra one in the kid's room and kitted it out with All Star Wars, All the Time. The only new thing on it was a string of R2-D2 lights I got on a whim from a catalog. All the rest of the decor were the kid's action figures, spaceships and assorted Happy Meal bobbleheads. We put the YP's Clone Wars bedspread down as his tree skirt, and then he stuffed his Yoda and his R2 robot underneath the tree to finish off the effect. He was most excited. Between this and his newfound love of my homemade dinner rolls, I'm bucking for mom of the ... well, month, anyway. I have a shot, too, since the month ends tomorrow...
Today is telecommuting for somewhere around 13 hours, and then maybe shopping. But Congress is back, and the publication schedule is back on full-bore, so tomorrow it's all back to business as usual. At least until the weekend. Once again, despite our anti-social tendencies we appear to be booked up thruogh the end of the year. How does that happen??
