I don't think I ever really did publicly thank Grandpa A (formerly Grandpa Disneyland,) for his visit here during NYAB's recent laid-up-edness. It was great fun to see him and sit and yammer, as ever, but the really nice thing about having my folks here -- as a duo or singly -- is that So Much Gets Done.
To wit:
These replaced some bodaciously ugly beige curtains that had giant pink roses in a tremendously busy granny pattern. And the curtain rod even hangs straight, something I could never do in a bazillion years.
And also:
This is the result of getting several branches trimmed, including one that was perilously long and threatening to take out the garage roof. As it was, it very nearly took out my dad and did knock his glasses off as it crashed toward earth, past him on the ladder.
(The funniest part of this story is that the next day the Young Prince took his toy Home Depot chainsaw outdoors at playtime, and at one point Gpa A. saw him rooting around in the grass. "What are you doing?" asks Gpa A. "I'm looking for my glasses," replies the YP. Well, it wouldn't be a re-enactment without follow-through, right?)
Of course, what with all the nifty firewood and newly stacked logpile, last week's amazing rainstorm has provided us with another project for when my folks come back for another visit in August:
Don't it just figure? Maybe we'll get this one down ourselves. Or maybe we'll let the neighbors deal with it. They were sniffing around looking for firewood. Any takers? Only rule is you can't take out the neighbor's fence, and we won't pay any liability if you knock your own head off... and I'd appreciate it if the other trees currently holding this one up didn't have to die too...
We had that problem a couple of weeks ago! Except our tree fell onto our fence, which I felt was one of the best things about the house. Luckily he was able to rebuild it with spare rickety pickets.
Good luck!

I think the funniest part of the story is that you said "bodaciously ugly." That makes me giggle.
