Christmas was good. Four days off (with a few hours of working from home here and there) was great. The YP liked his wheelbarrow that we put together (with only one piece we had to disassemble after doing it wrong,) and the 5 kerjillion DVDs he got, and his hockey game and his wooden manual baseball pinball game, and his tinkertoys and his new Cars stuff, and and and.
His Grandpa Illinois (formerly Grandpa Disneyland,) also got him a remote control helicopter. It works, though the silly thing reminds me a lot of a palmetto bug -- which for those of you who have never been to Florida, is a big, blind, flying cockroach. The copter is lightweight but awfully big to hit you in the face, it's very loud for being so small, and it crashes into things and there is absolutely no way to predict which direction the thing is going to fly. In other words, the YP adores it.
NYAB liked that he finally got a bag to tote logs from the woodpile to the fireplace.
I liked my Fry and Laurie DVDs and camera lens and RO water filter (and I like even better that will be installed! By! Someone! Else!)
And now? The YP is sick with some kind of plegmy plague, NYAB and I are working from home because, really, sick kid=good excuse to avoid the commute even though we do have stuff to do, and la, the house, she is a mess. But not as messy as yesterday.
Christmas Dinner conversation:
Me: YP, what do you know about Christmas?
YP: It's Jesus' birthday?
Me: Yes. Where was he born?
YP: Uh. In Bethlehem?
Me: Yes. Very good.
YP: Was I born in Bethlehem?
Me: No. You were born in Falls Church.
YP: No, you mean False Teeth.
Sigh.
