First of all, does anyone know what kind of spider this is?
He didn't like being sucked up in the vacuum, that's for sure.
And now, on with our show, in reverse chronological order.
Because the Young Prince has been sucked in by McDonald's marketing, we took all the Happy Meal cardboard map pieces we could dig out of the car seats and had our own treasure hunt on Sunday. Here's the big payoff:
On Saturday, we went to Cedar Creek to watch the misplaced re-enactment of the battle of First Manassas.
I came thisclose to buying a dress, but didn't. I'm putting that off and going to a store where I'll get all kitted out correctly. Much to the chagrin of probably everyone I know. But hey, Halloween will be set for years. The sutler's area still had plenty to feast the eyes on, however.
"Now that's a real shame when folks be throwin' away a perfectly good white boy like that..."
We actually didn't see much of the re-enactment, we got there early and by the time the show started we were all pretty hot and cranky. Not as cranky as I'd have been as a re-enactor though ... having to ride on a wooden saddle:
(Confidential to Stella: Whatcha think of that?)
But there was an opening act, which I found far more entertaining and delightful.
And that was basically it for our weekend.
If that beast was in my house I would move. Seriously.

Why would we be appalled by your purchase of a Civil War dress? Especially me, who still has plastic tubs full of medieval reenactment wear. I'm all for it.

Yeah, I think that's called the scariest fucking spider I've ever seen!

Tig: But it was much easier to vacuum up the spider than to pack all those boxes!
Ed: Oh, yeah. I forgot about that! :)
Darren and Raph: I was okay til he started running! Then I did squeak a little.
