I turned 37 yesterday. So in three more years, I'm going to have to change the tag line of this blog. I guess I'd better start thinking about that today....
I have the best family ever: I got awesome music relating back to my youth and an even awesomer DustBuster that plugs into the car lighter, so that now I can suck up all those damn Frosted Flakes as soon as we stop instead of having to wait til we get home and I'm too loaded down with 5 metric tons of crap to take into the house to bother coming back out to clean up.
I had the homemade Best Cake Ever -- yellow, with chocolate frosting. Mmmm.
And I also have the best neighbors ever, who brought me flowers for a vase and a spark plug for my still-not-working chipper-shredder.
But best of all, I have a husband who knows the way to my heart:

And got three tickets to Opening Day at the new Nationals Park. We got celebratory Opening Day handtowels and lanyards. If you come to our house, you'll see them on display.
Noted:
-- The subway is crowded, but it is fantastically convenient; one block away and clearly soon-to-be-highly developed a la Camden Yards.
-- The concessions were off to a very bad start. We waited in line for an hour and a half, and the lines were not any better in the later innings. Once you got to the front of the line, all you saw was chaos and disorganization behind the counter. But they'll probably smooth things out eventually. Editor's Note will be pleased to hear that St. Louis is still my favorite -- nowhere else offers Dr. Pepper, for God's sake!
George Bush threw out the first pitch. I took very bad photos.

We had seats right above the visiting team's bullpen.

-- It was COLD! We were dressed in several layers, but the YP still complained about his hands freezing. Of course, that might have had to do with the fact that he couldn't play his video game with mittens on.
-- The park itself (what little we saw -- our roaming time was eaten up by trying to get food,) is very nice, indeed. I'm looking forward to going back in the summer and exploring the place in detail. I'm not sure what I think of the cheerleaders, though.

All in all, a very nice night. Except we had to leave early because my 5 a.m. workshift is not really conducive to games that wrap up after 11:30 and take 2 hours to get home from... Sigh. I feel so old! And not because of the birthday!
Happy birthday!

How fun for you! And happy birthday!

Cheerleaders?!? What is this world coming to? It's bad and wrong and against nature.
I'm indeed glad to hear that you love the STL, though I think they have Dr Pepper at one of the Texas stadiums. I'm sure they don't have it here at the Ted, because we are in Coke country.

Cheerleaders? The hell? It's not like football where cheering is the only impact on the sport women have ever had! I mean, the Red Sox scouted my mother, for pete's sake (then they found out she was a girl and that was the end of that), so I'm insulted at the idea of cheerleaders in baseball!

Oh, and happy birthday =)

Happy Birthday.
I can't believe there were freakin' cheerleaders there. I was just commenting to myself earlier in the day about how baseball is different than football because there is no cheerleaders, etc. -sigh-
the picture of the two baseballs....i'd love to know how you got that? Amazing shot!

Happy belated! I agree with the yellow cake/chocolate frosting Best Cake Ever pronouncement.

Aw, thanks everyone!
Bri: Thanks! It was a lucky mix of having really good seats, people in front of us leaving for a good long time to get beer, and a macro 300mm lens. :D I was kind of unhappy, actually, because I had to take it through this guard-rail thing -- you can still sort of see the blur on the edges, though I cropped it to death. Next time I'm just going to stand up for the 45 seconds it would have taken me to snap the photo, and if the people behind me don't like it they can stuff it!
