ETA: Looks like LiveLeak is putting it back up. Good on them.
"Fitna" Pulled from LiveLeak After Threats
Errr. OK. Let me see if I have this right:
"Islam is a religion of peace! How dare you post this movie documenting Muslim crimes against humanity and Muslim clerics calling for the bloodletting of infidels? How insulting! We don't like that. Take it down or we will kill you."
The fuh?
If you're interested, you can still see the movie here -- at least, until Google's staff gets death threats. It's pretty gruesome ... but I didn't see any factual errors in the movie footage, and find it difficult to see how the quotes used could possibly have been taken out of context.
Frankly, the movie's final message is really what it boils down to for me: Islam wants everyone's respect and deference, but doesn't yield an inch in respect or deference to any other group. You can go on all you want about the negatives of religion and how any dogma is bad dogma and blablabla, but I don't remember any organized calls for Serrano's head on a plate after Piss Christ. Yes, lawmakers debated whether he deserved federal taxpayer money to continue his work, but it seems to me that's a valid debate regarding what our society wants to promote with a limited resource. It's a lot more rational than, "Hey, kids, let's bomb the museum and threaten to throw its employees off the tops of tall buildings!"
and they make lousy astronomers... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wppjYDj9JUc

Ahhh! That's fantastic! The moon is half the size of the sun! See, I had no idea the Koran mentions the specific metric measurements of the two celestial bodies in question!!
